Target Audience: RNs interested in learning more about legal nurse consulting and sources of medical information and electronic medical records
Description/Purpose: Participation in this online module will increase the learner’s knowledge about analysis of medical records.
Learning Objectives:
- Review the concepts of patient confidentiality
- Outline the sources for identifying medical information
- Investigate the various laws as well as federal and state regulations governing access to medical records
- Examine the LNC’s responsibilities in organizing and managing medical records
- Discuss the value of audit trials
- Recognize privacy and security concerns associated with electronic medical records
- Explore the various aspects of the considerations in an LNC’s analysis of medical records
