Target Audience: RNs interested in learning more about legal nurse consulting and the LNC role in evaluating forensic cases
Description/Purpose: Participation in this online module will increase the learner’s knowledge on the LNC role in evaluating forensic cases.
Learning Objectives:
- Provide an overview of specific areas of criminal law procedure, and evidence
- Describe the role, responsibility, and process of the legal nurse consultant in reviewing criminal cases and in assisting attorneys in the prosecution or defense of a criminal case
- Identify the differences between criminal and civil case proceedings
- Explain the purpose and procedures for maintaining chain of custody
- Describe the role and responsibility of sexual assault forensic examiners
- Detail the identification and evaluation of child and adult abuse cases
Continuing Education: The American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants is accredited as a provider of continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
