Target Audience: RNs interested in learning more about legal nurse consulting and the LNC role in evaluating forensic cases

Description/Purpose: Participation in this online module will increase the learner’s knowledge on the LNC role in evaluating forensic cases.

Learning Objectives:

• Provide an overview of specific areas of criminal law procedure, and evidence
• Describe the role, responsibility, and process of the legal nurse consultant in reviewing criminal cases and in assisting attorneys in the prosecution or defense of a criminal case
• Identify the differences between criminal and civil case proceedings
• Explain the purpose and procedures for maintaining chain of custody
• Describe the role and responsibility of sexual assault forensic examiners
• Detail the identification and evaluation of child and adult abuse cases
