Target Audience: RNs interested in learning more about legal nurse consulting and the LNC role in defense medical examination.
Description/Purpose: Participation in this online module will increase the learner’s knowledge about the role of the LNC when attending defense medical exams.
Learning Objectives:
· State the purpose of a Defense Medical Examination
· Describe the role of the LNC observer before, during, and after attending a DME
· Describe the reasons why a legal nurse consultant would pause an examination to contact the plaintiff attorney
· Describe the typical DME components and what examination techniques or maneuvers to expect for some common exams
· Identify items the LNC should include in a DME report
